Generally speaking, the Auglaize County Board of Commissioners’ top priority is to uphold the county motto of “Great Past, Greater Future!” by continuing to deliver the countywide services that Auglaize County has been known to deliver to our residents by maintaining and recruiting an excellent work force to provide the best services to our residents.
More specifically, the following are the 2015 goals for the Auglaize County Board of Commissioners.
1.       To develop a cost effective and cost efficient strategy to document image the numerous records that Auglaize County currently has stored in various locations.
2.       To continue upgrading our countywide informational technology infrastructure, including servers, switches and other ancillary equipment to maintain current hardware/software functionality.
3.       To complete the rehabilitation of the failing cast iron sewer pipe throughout the Auglaize County Law Enforcement Center. In 2014, as an emergency repair, about 20% of the failed cast iron sewer pipe was replaced.
4.       To complete the parking lot expansion for the Auglaize County Courthouse. In 2014 we purchased and demolished a home at 206 Willipie Street to expand parking for courthouse patrons and employees.
5.       To better protect the Auglaize County Courthouse from lightning strikes, we plan to install a more effective lighting protection system. In 2014 lightning struck the courthouse twice causing two large insurance claims and negatively impacting courthouse operations for several weeks.
6.       To commence installation of water and sewer utilities to the Neil Armstrong Airport. This is the first phase of the Airport Continuous Improvement Plan (ACIP) for the construction of a new terminal/snow removal equipment building. The FAA funds 90% of the project.
7.       To continue financial support of the Auglaize County Economic Development Coalition’s endeavor to retain and attract businesses/industry throughout Auglaize County. In 2015 we hope to enter into a cooperative agreement which will allow businesses to take advantage of the benefits of working through a port authority. Additionally, our county administrator will take an active role with economic development throughout Auglaize County.
8.       To aid OSU Extension in the hiring of an Agricultural Educator due to the retirement of John Smith.
9.       To continue offering excellent, nursing home services at Auglaize Acres. Currently, the biggest challenge the Acres faces, which is not unique to the Acres, is the lack of state tested nurses aides (STNAs) to take open, full time positions with excellent benefits. Strategies are being created to work with the appropriate agencies to provide instruction to interested candidates to become an STNA. Additionally, the Acres is working on producing alternative revenue streams for its operations by seeking out rental agreements with interested public agencies to occupy vacant space not part of the nursing home operations.
10.   To produce and distribute the inaugural Auglaize County Board of Commissioners Annual Report.
